It’s Free

Free Internet

Did you pay your Internet?
We pay for everything in life besides air, and that’s only because someone hasn’t figured out a way to charge us for breathing yet. Internet belongs to everyone in the world, and nobody should have to pay to use it.
Here is some fact.

* 49% of Internet users have tried free micro-blogging services like Twitter

* 0% of them would be willing to pay for it.
Same goes for me I’m not willing to shell out money for twitter, facebook or any other social network.

Internet users have an extreme disconnect when it comes to the Web. Most people have no problem with buying products and services offline. If we go to Target and buy a CD – we shell out the cash. If we buy at book at Barnes & Noble – we shell out the cash. If we hire the services of an accountant – we shell out the cash. If we go to a weekly yoga class for lessons – we shell out the cash.

So why don’t we want to pay for anything on the Internet?

We want free email. We want free social networks. We want free music. We want free TV shows and free movies. We want free news. (okay I’m talking here of legalities , torrent discussion , file sharing and human knowledge belongs to the world discussions will be saved for another blog)

The problem may be that consumers have been conditioned to get things for free on Internet. We have been getting a free ride since the crazy, dot-com days in the late 1990s.

Is free content just a stage we’re going through in the evolution of the Internet?

In other words – is “free” sustainable?

If we look back at the dot-com era as a guide post there’s an argument to be made that our current state of “free content” on the web might not be permanent, but simply a nascent stage in the growth of the Internet. That conclusion can be supported by evidence of what happened to online retail during the dot-com phase of the Internet’s growth.
(Okay I just watched start-up.com)

So whats the difference between a Free and a Payed Service ?

Is paid content more valuable – and more reliable – than free content?

A good example of a free content is the wikipedia.org do find wiki reliable ? maybe for a lazy like me, I found it comfortable on searching things in that place, maybe its reliable for the person who is searching it, with no backgrounds/or knowledge on what he/she is trying to find out. Maybe these wiki error bug days maybe over soon, but still wiki technology( as they say) is not as reliable. Maybe your just lazy to google. Here’s wikitech for me
Wikipedia is only as good as the hive mind chooses to make it. Some people have lavished a lot of care on it, cited their sources, and so on, and actually made it a reputable place to start research. Other pages are pure dreck.

Okay a lot of people are just screw ups and trying vandalize the content wiki.

With any new form of technology since the beginning of time, some old jobs will break down and die, and new jobs will be formed. What is going on now is a transformation in the Workforce. Musicians, Artists, and other artistic forms of work have always had a hard time making a steady income since the beginning of time because in past days it just wasn’t useful, and really it still isn’t.

The Internet originated as a free-of-charge place. Notably, in the very beginning, almost all users were connected over their college/university and did not even pay ISP fees. The wish to earn money creeped in sometime in the mid-90s.

Some will say , I’m paying for my Internet. well your paying for your service provider not for your internet. Internet is Free . Here’s the thing anyways are you willing to pay for your internet ? Imagine paying your service provider , then paying for internet? Is that bad? well the idea of Internet is not that big as well , Tim Berners Lee created for CERN ,to link scientist and researchers working in CERN. not connecting civilians.

Advertising funds the Internet. Most free websites(that aren’t just ads themselves) has some kind of advertising on them. Facebook, Myspace and now even Twitter all incorporate ads in some way.

If blogging sites and social networking sites can’t make money while providing their services for free to users, then they are doing it wrong.

Here is my idea on paying for Paying Social Networking site
I’m not willing to pay because it’s not a need. I use facebook because it’s free. If I’d have to pay for it, I’d find other ways to keep in touch with international friends. In fact, because of social networks, I don’t speak to my friends as often. We’ll all survive without any of these “free” services!

But paying for Internet is such a crazy thing. I’m already paying for my network provider , now what? I’m paying for internet services as well? HELL NO!

If the internet stopped providing free content then many companies would go under. The ISP’s would take a hit since people wouldn’t pay 60 bucks a month to get to the internet only to have to pay a fee per site to view content. It would be a waste of time. Musicians make money at their concerts not necessarily album sales, that is the recording company. The only people that would benefit from a fee based internet would be hackers as they would destroy the internet in retaliation. Their whole motto is based on free public information on the internet. No one would be able to afford to pay for all the free services we currently use online. Imagine paying $5 for twitter, $8 for Facebook, $1 per google search, $7 for Flickr, $10 for youtube. There is absolutely no way this would work. Try it, put a price on everything you use online and see if you can afford it a month.

Ari Gold

So far if google you find 3 popular ARI GOLD , The american pop singer and song writer , the other one is the american filmmaker and the last one is the fictional character in comedy-drama television series Entourage(Played by Jeremy Piven )
Entourage
The Ari Gold I’m talking is the fictional character .

This guy rocks!

If you’ve seen Entourage you either love Ari or hate him. Even if you hate him, you probably admire his bulldog tenacity, his superbly quick wit and his insanely funny sharp tongue. Played by Jeremy Piven, the character is a cartoonish version of an all-sales-all-the-time-super-performer.

Here is why I love Ari Gold
. he is the physical representation of capitalism at it’s best. Supreme confidence. Awe inspiring. Ari is all business all the time

In real life, we cant all be like Ari
but we can duplicate his work ethic, his aggressiveness, his tenacity and his drive to win. In Ari’s case, he is already rich. Its not about the money, it is about the will to win. The desire to prove who is the BEST agent in town.

The desire to truly WIN. The tenacity and stick-to-itiveness to see their projects through to fruition. The patience, the work ethic, the humbleness of spirit combined with the CONFIDENCE to win.

“You can have it if you want to live in F’ing Agora Hills, and go to group therapy; but if you want a Beverly Hills mansion, and a country club membership, and nine weeks in a Tuscan Villa, then Im going to need to take a call when it comes in at noon on a MF’ing Wednesday!” – Ari Gold.

Simple, here are a few thoughts:

What lessons can an aspiring entrepreneur, six-figure salesperson, or up-and-coming future executive take from Hard-Hitting-Ari?

Simple, here are a few thoughts:

1) Nothing comes easy, no matter how connected you strive to be.
2) You can not escape the work ethic requirement embedded in the success equation.
3) Drive and determination are what your clients expect.

What Will Brazil, England, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Holland, Portugal & Argentina’s Teams Be In 2014?

ARGENTINA 2014

Even though the Argentine team crashed out in the Quarter Finals, a young side with an abundance of attacking talent has every reason to feel confident going into the first South American World Cup since 1978 – where the Albiceleste came out on top on home soil.

Current coach Diego Maradona is still umming and aahing his position with the same spectacle and media-friendly soundbites with which he has conducted his entire reign. Whoever is in charge come 2014, however, will find the most pressing worries come in defence – positively calamitous against Germany, there will be more questions posed with the unavailability of Walter Samuel, Gabriel Heinze and Javier Zanetti. The rest of the team will have a rather familiar look to it:

Goalkeeper Sergio Romero did nothing to disgrace himself in South Africa, and at only 27 next time around will have more bigtime experience under his belt. A possible contender could be Independiente’s Adrian Gabbarini, who had a great season for the Rojo and is an interesting prospect.

Cristian Ansaldi, Clemente Rodriguez and Emiliano Insua are all possibilities to fill the problem full-back slots, which were never really resolved in this World Cup. In the centre, expect a savvier and more streetwise Nicolas Otamendi to become a defensive titan, while Martin Demichelis and Nicolas Burdisso will still be on the scene. Keep an eye out for Boca’s Matias Caruzzo, who will be 29 in 2014 and was immense for Clausura winners Argentinos Juniors.

In midfield, if Argentina decide to abandon Dieguitos ‘Ataquen ataquen ataquen’ mentality and adopt the 4-2-3-1 setup of Spain and Holland, they have two ready made pivot men in Javier Mascherano and Mario Bolatti, who will be 30 and 29 respectively. This will leave Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Lanus talent Sebastian Blanco to fill the ‘Lionel Messi plus two more’ space in front.

Javier PastoreŠ Watch out for El Flaco in 2014

Up front, Diego Milito will be gone, Gonzalo Higuain will need to prove that he can score goals in the real crunch international games after disappearing against the Germans. The Real Madrid man is still a baby and has plenty of time to prove himself as real world-class; the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Franco Jara, Lisandro Lopez and young Racing man Gabriel Hauche will be more than willing to step in should Pipita fall by the wayside.

World Cup 2014 Objective: Winners

BRAZIL 2014

If you want to know who will be the biggest stars of the Selecao as Brazil try to win the World Cup on home soil, all you have to do is look back on some of the players public and press thought should have been in South Africa. The young Santos stars Neymar and Ganso will probably be mature and will have proven their talent by 2014. A mix of those young stars with some experienced players who took part in the campaign of 2010 should make Brazil’s team for the next World Cup.

For the goalkeeping spot, Julio Cesar will be 34 in 2014, which should not be a problem considering that the position allows players to be in the highest level for a long time. As a substitute, Victor, from Gremio, one of the players left out of Dunga’s call-up unfairly, will have his chance to be the first choice behind Cesar.

At the full-back spots, Maicon will be an experienced and proven player on the right side, with the quality that makes him the best at his position. On the left, Marcelo will have the chance to be a starter in his first World Cup, given that he continues to grow at Real Madrid. As a substitute to Maicon or any midfielder, Daniel Alves will still be a reliable option. At centre defence, the promising Mario Fernandes, from Gremio, will be mature and established as a world class defender. His partner will be Thiago Silva, who by then will probably evolve into a more regular and steady defender after years in Italy’s Serie A. As their main replacement, Sao Paulo’s Miranda will be a good option as he has similar qualities as the two starters.

Ganso Š World class in 2014?

In midfield, Hernanes, the Sao Paulo hero, will finally get his deserved chance and pair up with Benfica’s Ramires to make a very offensive-minded set of defensive midfielders. In front of them, the veteran Kaka will have the brilliance of the young and talented, Paulo Henrique ‘Ganso’, of Santos, who by then will probably be one of the world’s best players. As substitutes, Sandro will be an option for strengthening the defense, while Phillippe Coutinho can fill in for an injured Kaka or Ganso.

Up front, the young starlet Neymar should be in his prime, just like his teammate Ganso. He will make an explosive and fast-paced pair with Alexandre Pato, who will be more mature and established after long years at Milan. Substitutes will be the veterans Robinho and Nilmar.

World Cup 2014 Objective: Winners

ENGLAND 2014

As the nation picks through the wreckage of yet another disappointing display by England at a major tournament, much discussion will centre on the end of the so-called ‘golden generation’. What now for the likes of Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Cole and Ferdinand? Most of the England team at the World Cup were in and around the late twenties and early thirties so the next four years we will see a generational change – one that we have not seen in over a decade in England – with few survivors from the class of 2010.

Unquestionably it will be time for many players to bow out from the international stage. David James, 39, Ledley King, 29 and David Beckham, 35 are unlikely to play for England again, whilst Emile Heskey, 32, Frank Lampard, 32 and Rio Ferdinand 31 could all see their places in the side come under threat from younger, hungrier players as Fabio Capello seeks to rejuvenate his team.

After being deemed disruptive by Capello in South Africa, John Terry, 29, may find himself eased out of the England set up in the next few years whilst Steven Gerrard, 30 may stick around for longer. If the Liverpool skipper is still part of the England set up in four years time, he could be there for his experience and used sparingly as a defensive midfielder.

Joe Hart is in pole position to be England’s number 1 keeper for some years to come, whilst Glen Johnson could be the sole survivor of a major changing off the guard in the team’s defence. Ashley Cole, 29, has played at three World Cups already and is unlikely to represent England at a fourth. But Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs seems to be the most likely and natural replacement for the Chelsea left back. At centre-back, Tottenham’s Michael Dawson would have benefited from the experience of being part of the squad in South Africa and is ever-improving, whilst Bolton’s Gary Cahill is highly regarded by Capello and could receive a call up when he recovers from a blood clot in his arm.

Despite England’s woeful World Cup, the reputation of Aston Villa’s James Milner continues to grow and his versatility will ensure that he remains an England player for the next few years. Arsenal’s 18 year-old wonderkid Jack Wilshere has a bright future and had already gained plenty of experience in the England junior set-up. In Lee Cattermole, Sunderland have the terrier-like midfielder that England sorely needed in South Africa. Cattermole has also accumulated plenty of Premier League playing time and has established himself in the England under 21’s, so should come into Capello’s thinking over the coming years. Manchester City’s mercurial winger Adam Johnson will develop over the next four years too.

Jack WilshereŠ One of few promising English talents

They are several promising young strikers in and around the England under 21 set up. Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, Newcastle’s Andy Carroll and Aston Villa’s Nathan Delfouneso amongst them. All appear to have the raw talent and potential to gatecrash the England team. But it could be Wigan’s Victor Moses to partner Wayne Rooney up front, as he is this country’s most promising young talent and could be a real ‘wildcard’ at a World Cup like Michael Owen was in 1998.

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott will also be given another chance to fulfil his obvious potential and many England supporters will have hopes that in four year’s time he will have developed the composure and game intelligence to go with his electric pace. Wayne Rooney will be back in 2014 and hungrier than ever to prove his critics wrong after a disastrous World Cup 2010. Rooney is a future England captain and at the age of 28 would possess the experience to lead this young side.

England’s class of 2014 will probably not be equipped to the get to the World Cup final. But this will be a young team combined with a couple of older heads much like Joachim Loew’s Germany at this World Cup. If England can make half the impact that the Germans did then this would be progress.

World Cup 2014 Objective: Quarter Finals

FRANCE 2014

France’s World Cup disaster is liable to lead to significant changes over the next four years. Out will go veteran faces such as Thierry Henry, William Gallas, Eric Abidal and possibly even Patrice Evra, clearing the way for a raft of new players to establish themselves under Laurent Blanc, who has of course stepped in to replace the highly controversial Raymond Domenech.

While some areas of the team will likely see a great overhaul, in goal les Bleus will not change significantly. Hugo Lloris has positioned himself to be one of the world’s outstanding custodians for the next decade and is unlikely to be shifted, while Steve Mandanda is still young in goalkeeping terms and will likely deputise. Johann Carrasso may well come through the ranks to trouble brother Cedric for this final berth.

Lloris’ defence is likely to be drastically changed. It would be a surprise if Philippe Mexes wasn’t given a run under Blanc, and should he prove successful, the Roma defender will surely start at World Cup 2014. Alongside him it will either be one of the emerging talents of Adil Rami or Mamadou Sakho to feature, though it’s still feasible that Sebastien Squillaci, Marc Planus or even Michael Ciani is fit to play. Right-back at present seems to be a stick-on for Bacary Sagna still, though it will be interesting to see the progress of Mapou Yanga-M’Biwa and Garry Bocaly, but the similar position on the left is far more opaque. France have a clutch of talented left-sided full-backs and by 2014 it’s likely that Patrice Evra will have been usurped. Gael Clichy is in pole position at the present time, but Aly Cissokho or Benoit Tremoulinas could have a foot in the door in four years, especially as the latter is a favourite of Blanc from his time at Bordeaux.

Changes will also be afoot in the centre of the park. Moussa Sissoko should be a regular in the squad come Brazil, and it may well be that he is the box-to-box player of the team. Lassana Diarra, Yann M’Vila and Jeremy Toulalan will be left to squabble over who controls the anchoring role, with the most in-form at the time likely to claim the spot. Alou Diarra will also be in with a shout of this position, though at 32-years-old, it’s unlikely he’ll be heavily involved in the squad. In the more attacking midfield positions, Yoann Gourcuff continues to hold the hopes of France as an heir to Zinedine Zidane. He will have to iron out inconsistencies in his game if les Bleus are to truly flourish. Meanwhile, Samir Nasri will push the Bordeaux player all the way.

Yoann GourcuffŠ Must perform in Brazil

Out wide, don’t expect to see Franck Ribery displaced unless he continues to pick up injuries regularly, as he did last season. Mathieu Valbuena will remain an option, but he would appear likely to be a squad player in the making, while Bakary Sako, Karim Ait-Fana and Franck Tabanou will want to continue their recent upward trend and have forced their way into the senior team reckoning by 2014. One name to watch out for is Gael Kakuta of Chelsea; he’ll only be 22 when the World Cup in Brazil starts, but his promise suggests it’s not unfeasible to predict he’ll be in the reckoning by then.

A contemporary of Kakuta, Yannis Tafer may eventually break into the senior team, but doing so by 2014 is perhaps a little optimistic. The Olympique Lyonnais man would have to muscle his way by several established talents such as Karim Benzema, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Djibril Cisse, Jimmy Briand and Loic Remy, all of who will expect to be involved in the World Cup squad in four years time.

World Cup 2014 Objective: Semi-Finals

GERMANY 2014

Germany may have been dark horses at the 2010 World Cup, but make no mistake: they will surely be among the top contenders for 2014. With only Miroslav Klose, Arne Friedrich, and reserve goalkeeper Hans-Joerg Butt likely to have retired from international competition, the core of the 2010 Germany squad will return a much more experienced team.

Depending on form, Manuel Neuer or Rene Adler will start in goal. Tim Wiese and newcomer Tobias Sippel should round off the backups, with Roman Wiedenfeller being a suitable reserve in the event of a major injury crisis.

In defense, Philipp Lahm is, and will always be, a shoe-in. The other three defensive positions are very much up in the air. Mats Hummels, who was arguably the Bundesliga’s best defender in 2009-10, should break into the first team within the next four years. He will compete with Per Mertesacker, as well as youngsters Holger Badstuber, Benedikt Hoewedes, and, assuming he plays club football in his natural central position, Jerome Boateng. Aside from Lahm, the other natural fullback options will be Marcell Jansen, Marcell Schaefer, and Andreas Beck. Rising star Christopher Buchtmann, who will be 22 by the start of the next World Cup, is an outside contender.

Like Lahm, 81-times capped midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is irreplaceable, and will be first choice in the centre of the park. His partner, however, is anything but certain. Sami Khedira had a good tournament, but Simon Rolfes is more than capable competition. Youngsters Sven and Lars Bender also have a chance, as does natural playmaker Toni Kroos, who could take a role similar to that which Khedira played in 2010.

As of now, the four attacking positions (three midfield, one centre forward) are completely undecided. Thomas Mueller, who had five goals and three assists in 2010, should earn a starting berth, and can play in any attacking position. Lukas Podolski, who has the undying support of coach Jogi Loew (who is likely to extend his stay with Germany in the next few weeks), also has an advantage and can play either on the left flank or as the lone centre forward. Other options in the position of striker are youngsters Richard Sukuta-Pasu and Lennart Thy, as well as the more established Mario Gomez and Stefan Kiessling.

Oezil & MuellerŠ World class duo in 2014

After being shortlisted for the golden ball award in 2010, Mesut Oezil might be considered a shoe in for the playmaker role, but if he does not improve his fitness, Loew will be concerned about his ability to complete an entire tournament. Look out for Mario Goetze, who at 18, is widely regarded as the World’s best footballer at his age. If he does not come to fruition in time for 2014, any of Toni Kroos, Marko Marin, and a host of others may earn a starting role.

Below are the options for attacking midfield and centre forward, in decreasing order of the probability of their inclusion in the starting lineup.

Attacking midfielders (pick three): Mueller, Oezil, Mario Goetze, Toni Kroos, Marko Marin, Kevin Grosskreutz, Marco Reus, Lewis Holtby, Sebastian Rudy, Timo Gebhart, Savio Nsereko, Deniz Naki, Florian Trinks

ITALY 2014

Despite a disastrous 2010 World Cup, Azzurri fans certainly can be optimistic ahead of Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 and there is enough top class young talent coming through for Italy to challenge for the title again in Brazil under new coach Cesare Prandelli.

Many of the class of 2010 will be long gone by the time 2014 comes around. Fabio Cannavaro and Rino Gattuso have already retired from international football, but Mauro Camoranesi, Vincenzo Iaquinta, and Antonio Di Natale will all be in their mid-to-late thirties and thus far too old. Andrea Pirlo, at 35, cannot be completely ruled out due to his unique style of play but even he is a long-shot. Angelo Palombo and Alberto Gilardino will both be 32 and have better options in front of them.

Injuries-permitting, Gianluigi Buffon is unlikely to be challenged in goal although Palermo’s Salvatore Sirigu could become his new deputy ahead of the shaky Federico Marchetti of Cagliari. In defence new Juventus signing Marco Motta and Inter’s Davide Santon will take the full back positions, although there will be competition from Fiorentina’s Lorenzo De Silvestri, Genoa’s Domenico Criscito, Palermo’s Mattia Cassani, and Torino’s Angelo Ogbonna. Inter’s Giulio Donati could be a darkhorse. At centre back, there will be an all-Juventus pairing of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. Alternatives in this position include the supremely talented, yet impulsive, Fabiano Santacroce of Napoli, Bari’s Andrea Ranocchia and Genoa’s Salvatore Bocchetti.

In centre midfield, Roma symbol Daniele De Rossi is a guarantee and he will be partnered by Sampdoria starlet Andrea Poli, who should have developed into a top class performer by 2014. Substitutes Claudio Marchisio of Juventus, Liverpool’s Alberto Aquilani (if he is fit), Fiorentina’s Riccardo Montolivo (due to the Prandelli connection), Sevilla’s Tiberio Guarente, Napoli’s Luca Cigarini, Zenit’s Alessandro Rosina, and Cagliari’s Andrea Lazzari will be worth looking out for. Cesena’s Ezequiel Schelotto and Sampdoria’s Roberto Soriano have been touted for their potential also. Antonio Cassano will finally get the chance to shine on the biggest stage and will be the main creative force with Inter enfant terrible Mario Balotelli to his left and Udinese’s Antonio Candreva to his right. New Juventus signing Simone Pepe will have to shed his tag as a Marcello Lippi favourite if he is to stick around.

Antonio Cassano Š Will finally get World Cup chance

As the lone attacker, Manchester United’s Federico Macheda has the raw attributes to be a real handful come 2014. There will be plenty of other firepower for coach Prandelli to choose from, such as Juventus’s Sebastian Giovinco, Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi, Cagliari’s Alessandro Matri, Parma’s Davide Lanzafame, Sampdoria’s Giampaolo Pazzini and Guido Marilungo, Parma’s Alberto Paloschi, and even Lazio’s Argentine-born fantasista Mauro Zarate if he pledges his allegiance to Italy.

NETHERLANDS 2014

After only just missing out on the 2010 World Cup, the core of Holland’s squad will be looking for revenge in Brazil. Oranje made it to the final in the last South American World Cup in 1978 and they will be full of confidence following their performances in South Africa. It’s not clear yet whether national team coach Bert van Marwijk will continue, while there will also be a number of players who are about to say farewell to the game.

First choice goalie Maarten Stekelenburg will still be the man between the sticks for Oranje in 2014. Current third choice Sander Boschker will retire in the near future and Vitesse star Piet Velthuizen will probably take his place. Full-back Giovanni van Bronckhorst is about to hang up his boots this summer, while centre back Andre Ooijer won’t make it to Brazil 2014 either. There are a number of promising defenders coming through though. Chelsea duo Jeffrey Bruma and Patrick van Aanholt could make the team in four years time, while Erik Pieters (PSV) and Royston Drenthe of Real Madrid are also candidates to make it into Oranje’s next World Cup squad.

Out of the two holding midfielders, Mark van Bommel will retire ahead of the 2014 World Cup. Possible replacements for the Bayern Munich star are Feyenoord youngster Leroy Fer and Twente midfielder Wout Brama, while Ibrahim Afellay could also fill in for Van Bommel. In the playmaker position, the national team coach will have the luxury to take a pick between Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart, while Ajax youngster Siem de Jong has also greatly developed last season.

Sneijder, Kuyt & Robben Š Trio will be in Brazil

Expect very much the same names in Brazil up front for the Dutch. Players such as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Robin van Persie, Dirk Kuyt and Arjen Robben will all make it to another World Cup, while Eljero Elia and Ryan Babel are still young, too. Feyenoord starlet Luc Castaignos has the potential to make it into Oranje in four years time, but it remains to be seen how he develops.

PORTUGAL 2014

After crashing out of the 2010 World Cup in the Round of 16, the Portuguese fans may expect a quite similar squad for the tournament in Brazil.

In the Seleccao goal, Eduardo is expected to remain favourite in the starting XI, with his biggest challenge coming in the form of Sporting’s Rui Patricio. With Ricardo Carvalho 36 years old by the time the World Cup starts, Bruno Alves and Pepe are favoured to form the centre-back duo. Bosingwa, who missed out on the 2010 tournament with injury, should start on the right, while Fabio Coentrao is expected to remain on the opposite side.

In the midfield, Miguel Veloso should be the most defensive piece, and he is tipped to start behind Raul Meireles and Joao Moutinho, the latter now the Seleccao’s playmaker following the retirement of Deco. Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma should be deployed on the wings, with Silvestre Varela a quality alternative for the left.

Cristiano Ronaldo Š Will still only be 29

In attack, Portugal’s problems remain: Liedson will be 36 years old, so Hugo Almeida is expected to be given the nod to start. As an alternative to the Werder Bremen striker, the Seleccao will have Carlos Saleiro of Sporting.

World Cup 2014 Objective: Quarter Finals

SPAIN 2014

Fans who fear and dread Spain’s patient tiki-taka, possession football of the past two years might have to bear with a similar style of play again in four years’ time as La Seleccion are likely to retain the same core players for Brazil 2014.

Goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas will be 33 by the time Brazil 2014 rolls around and although there’s every chance that he could still be the No. 1, it’s hard to see him maintain the same acrobatic ability and his supreme reflexes – his two strongest points – at that age. Pepe Reina will be at a perfect age to take over, while young David De Gea could also be in contention to inherit the coveted goalkeeping jersey.

In defence, Carles Puyol, Carlos Marchena and Joan Capdevila are all certain to retire by then. While the left-back slot could be a problem, there’s no shortage of talent elsewhere. Cesar Azpilicueta, Nacho Monreal, Mikel San Jose, Alvaro Dominguez have all shown plenty of promise over the past season or so, while the two current stalwarts Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique will only be in their late-20’s.

In midfield, the big question is whether mastermind Xavi will still be available. The Barcelona maestro will be 34 and could yet feature, as his game does not rely on explosive pace or power. The problem, however, is that Spain have so many emerging young stars to keep an eye on across the midfield line, nevermind the current crop which includes Cesc Fabregas, Javi Martinez, Juan Mata and David Silva, who will only be 28 and Xabi Alonso who will turn 32 in 2014. Youngsters such as Fran Merida, Ander Herrera, Diego Capel, Sergio Canales will be waiting in the wings, not to mention a wealth of talent that are likely to come through in four years’ time.

Sergio CanalesŠ Will break through by 2014

Golden Boy David Villa will be 32, and in Spain, unlike most other countries and leagues, forwards and attacking players who are in the wrong side of 30 are often overlooked for faster, stronger strikers. One player Spanish fans will be excited to see is Athletic Bilbao’s Iker Muniain. Like Villa and Pedro, Muniain is a versatile forward who likes to drift all over the pitch, but La Seleccion will also have a few options for target strikers if the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado can come of age, while Fernando Torres, who will turn just 30, might get a shot at redeeming himself if he can take good care of his health.

(4-4-2)

Reina (31)

Sergio Ramos (28), Pique (27), Albiol (28), Monreal (28)

Navas (28), Fabregas (27), Busquets (25), Iniesta (30)

Muniain (21), Torres (30)

Subs: De Gea (23), Azpilicueta (24), San Jose (25), Canales (23), David Silva (28), Fernando Llorente (29), Pedro (26)

World Cup 2014 Objective: Winners

The Ruins Structure & Architecture

he  mansion of Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson was built in the early 1900’s but to this day, the 903 square meter structure still stands tall amidst sugar plantation and its grandeur is a testament of the lifestyle of the hacienderos.

The structure of what’s left of the mansion is that we now call The Ruins, withstood the test of time mainly due to the oversized steel bars and the A-grade mixture of concrete used in its construction.  The wall finishing which were made of egg whites mixed with cement gave it its marble-like appearance.

The Columns

The Ruins Structure & Architecture

The structure of The Ruins is of Italianate architecture with neo-Romanesque columns, having a very close semblance to the facade of Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The intricate designs of the columns are still very intact and quite impressive. Whoever made those designs is truly a master in the art.

The Fountain

The Ruins Structure & ArchitectureThe 4-tiered fountain was built after the construction of the mansion was finished. Angelina, one of the daughters maintained a beautiful lily garden in and around the fountain. A Japanese gardener painstakingly took care of the plants until the burning of the mansion.

At present, The Ruins is beautifully landscaped and maintained by 5 gardeners.

The Simborio

The Ruins Structure & ArchitectureSimborio is the local name for smokestack or chimney. it was the vent used for the muscovado mill of the sugar farm of Don Mariano Lacson. In those days, they would make their own sugar by extracting juice of the sugarcane through the mill. transfer them in large vats where they are heated to a certain temperature, and cooled to allow it to crystallize.

Today, muscovado is pretty much prepared the same way as it was in those days. In addition to sugar refineries, muscovado is still a thriving industry in Negros Occidental.

The Veranda Lighting

The pipes used to channel the electric wires, embedded inthe ceiling, are the same ones used today. Note the rings beside the ceiling lights which used to hold the chains of chandeliers.

The Wooden Floors

The flooring used for the mansion were alternating red and yellow span, 2-inch thick, hard wood running from the main entrace facing the fountain all the way to the end of the dining room, with no joints. They were a meter wide and were about 67 feet (20.5 meters) long. The living room near the veranda and all bedrooms, downstairs and upstairs inclusing the belvedre, were all of wooden floor.

The Belvedere

The Ruins Structure & Architecture A belvedere at the second floor, facing west, in a glassed-in sun-room with bay windows affords a beautiful view of the sunset and the coastline of Talisay.

The Small Arched Window

This is the original window between the kitchen and the dining area. This is common in most Spanish homes in order to facilitate the movement of food and minimize foot traffic in and out of the kitchen. The original kitchen is now turned into a receiving room.

The Tiles in the Mansion

The Ruins Structure & ArchitectureThe tiles in the mansion were brought in from Spain. Arrays of varies designs of tiles used throughout the mansion have been grouped together at the foyer of the back entrance of the mansion. It is believed that the excess tiles were used in this area which was masterfully laid out.

The Rain Gutters & The Down Sprouts

The rain gutters all around at the top of the mansion are made of concrete and formed like canals. Rainwater runs to the back portion of the mansion where two large down sprouts lead it to a steel pipe to the ground where all the water is collected,

The Septic Tank

The origincal septic tank of the mansion now lies beneath the newly built toilets. The dimensions of the septic tank is 127in x 289in with a depth of 6 ft. The septic tank is watertight and has two chambers inside with concrete walls. Built in the 1920’s, the same septic tank is now being used at The Ruins.

Digging around the septic tank to locate the outlet revealed blocks of concrete which were the 1920’s molds used to make the balusters in the mansion.

The Initials

The Ruins Structure & ArchitectureAt first, I thought the owner has a penchant for letter E since these are molded onto the posts of the mansion. In fact, these are letter M’s, the initials of Mariano and Maria. The mansion was built after the death of Maria Braga so Don Mariano must have built it in remembrance of his deceased wide.

The Shell-Inspired Decor

The Ruins Structure & ArchitectureThe shell-inspored decor lined the top edged of the mansion. These same decor are used in those times in New England in the homes of ship captains. Maria Braga’s father was a captain of a ship.

The structure and architecture of The Ruins gave us a glimpse of life iof the hacienderos in those days. Only a few of these grand mansions still stand today and those which are no longer lived in are often destroyed in exchange for more modern structures. It is fortunate that the family of Mariano Lacson thought of preserving this historic structure as a family legacy and to share with those who have an appreciation for it. If The Ruins was torned down, much of these history will forever be lost.

The Ruins of Talisay, Negros Occidental

The Ruins of Talisay is Negros Occidental, despite its damaged state is still a marvelous sight to behold. Beautiful garden and fountain tiered with water lilies greets the visitors. During its heyday, it was a gem right in the heart of a sugarcane plantation. At night, the mansion ruins looks even more spectacular.

The Ruins of Lacson Mansion History

Wealthy sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson built the mansion in 1900â€Čs for Maria Braga, his portuguese wife. He made sure that the mansion was furnished with imported luxurious items. The Mansion’s structure resembles that of the italian architecture with neoclassical columns. The facades of the mansion is comparable to the ones in Carnegie Hall. The belvedere facing west enables one to view the beautiful sunset through the bay window.

The garden of the mansion was tended by Don Mariano’s daughter Angelina. Imported lilies filled the garden and around the fountain. A japanese gardener was hired to maintain the gardens until he disappeared just before the war. It was found out later on that the gardener they hired was an informant to the Japanese Military. When the world war 2 broke out, the guerillas burned down the mansion to prevent the Japanese from occupying the area. The mansion burned down leaving behind the concrete structure that still stands to this day.

Okay… thats the History… I can’t write so much.. All I got is a bunch of pictures..

World Cup

ITS ALL ABOUT HEART

In life , as in a soccer game , skill , precision and technique are of utmost importance. I do not argue that.  However , more often than not , when push comes to shove , the one who wants it the most , the one with most passion and courage , tempered by wisdom and experience  , is the one who scores the goal and make history.
Xabi Alonso
In the semifinal match between Germany and Spain early Wednesday morning, the spaniard’s passion and poetry(the fluidity by which they play their game) clearly trumped the German Precision. Perhaps also because spain was the older team(not an ace when you think about physical level) so experience played a critical part in outwitting the stronger yet younger team.
Xavi

Germany was the favored team because they had quite the awesome record while Spain’s was , well , second rate compared to Germany. Statistically , Germany had scored way more goals than spain , but spain has the greatest number of passes in this tournament. Spanish midfield composed of Xavi , Sergio Busquets , Xabi Alonso , Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas have made more passes than any other player in the tournament , a combined amount of 1,494(this is before the finals, In the finals Xavi alone has 80 passes and covered more than 15 KM of 120 minutes of pure action).

They  call it “tiki taka” in  barcelona, the short , sharp , one or two touch passes which brought Spain and Barcelona such success.

Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso explains ” for us , it is important to wait for the right moment to strike and , until when , to keep passing. You might give two passes that seem to lack value but the third maybe the decisive one. The first pass you make does not need to be a direct one, seeking out your forwards”.
Which makes one think that just like life , what is more important is not the end point or whether you hit your goal or not, but more so the lessons you learn along the way. And how important it is to keep trying , to show courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Here’s a Interesting article written by somebody

Goalkeeper . Kicking the ball straight in the goal does not guarantee it will make it to the net. A goal keeper stands there to teach us that no meaningful goal in life can be achieved without final obstacle that may foil ll previous obstacles(defenders) you may have overcome in the past.
Carles Puyol
Value of one goal. Carles Puyol’s winning goal against Germany made all the difference. Every goal in a soccer match is celebrated as though it is the winning goal. This is because players work so hard and for so long to score a single goal. In life, we must celebrate every achievement even if your assignment is not over. And remember, goals can be achieved oftentimes in the least expected ways.

Draw game. No one has to win for players and fans alike to enjoy a good game of soccer. A nil-nil game can be just as exhilarating as a game with three goals. Life does not always have to produce winners and losers.

Patience. Unlike any other sport, soccer teaches one the value of patience. Scoring a goal, like achieving a dream, can take time and teaches the athlete, spectator and dreamer many valuable lessons in perseverance and diligence.

Spain won the world cup against Netherlands(they won by a Andres Iniesta extra time goal coming from the string of passes in the spanish midfield)

Like in life and relationships, it is important to know the rhythm and flow of the people that you work with so that great things can be achieved and relationships can go smoothly. If Spain’s reserve goalkeeper Pepe Reina’s words are any indication, the Netherlands will be up for a major battle. Reina says, “‘It is our secret. We know each other by memory and we don’t panic because in a World Cup the games are really close and you have to be patient and keep trying to find the space. We did it at the end against Germany and we are proud of that.’

The Core team of Spain Includes its magnificent midfielders Sergio Busquets , Xabi Alonso , Xavi Hernandes , Andres Iniesta , Cesc Fabregas , and Striker David Villa(  I excluded Fernando Torres because of a disappointing showing in this world cup tournament)  I will also include defender Sergio Ramos and Goalkeeper Iker Casillas as the players behind the spain success in the world cup 2010 , Till then we meet at the 2014 world cup in brazil..

🙂

Eclipse

Eclipse Cover
HARDCORE FANS, THOSE who didn’t read the books, and even those who weren’t able to watch the two previous “Twilight” saga movies are sure to enjoy the movie version of “Eclipse”. Starting off with a certain Seattle native named Riley Biers being bitten by the vampire Victoria, the movie promises to give viewers a lot of exciting things to the next two hours. Bent on becoming a bloodsucker after graduation , but still not being fully supported by her vampire boyfriend Edward , Bella’s life gets even more complicated when she becomes the target if an army of freshly bitten vampire led by Riley Biers. Interestingly, the Cullen clan teams up with Jacob Black and the rest of the warewolf pack, forgetting their differences for a while to protect the endangered Bella, who by now has become the hottest girl on the planet. If you saw “New Moon” , you will notice that some things haven’t changed. The vampires still wear kabuki make-up and have actually already perfected the constipated look, especially Jasper, looks funny in the movie. Some of the characters hair will make you laugh too. Take , for example , Alice , who do not only sports an unflattering hairstyle , but even dons a big black bow in one of the scenes , making her look like she’s trying to be cute. And as usual, the Cullens , when all together(especially when waiting for the enemies) look like they’re posing for a forced goth Gap ad , with all the pouts and fierce facial expression , plus color-coordinated get-ups. Despite of these repetitions, which are somehow forgivable and actually entertaining, the movie has so much more to offer. For starters, there is the new character: army leader Riley Biers, the jealous and snooty warewolf Leah Clearwater; and a young freshly-bitten, scene stealing vampire It’s nice to deviate from the three main characters love triangle, too, thanks to the interesting back stories of Jasper and Rosalie, delivered “True Blood” flashback style Another fresh change is how Jacob is now openly fighting for Bella. Gone is the shy, keep-it-to-myself Jacob. Jacob made a very good point when he explained to Bella how he is better for her because she’s doesn’t have to change or say goodbye to those she loves, for him. The saga’s third installment is sexier than the previous two movies. Jacob has more topless scene (the first one made the audience go “wow” in unison) even bringing Edward to say “Doesn’t he own a shirt?” There is a lot of hugging and kissing. Virginity is tackled. And Edward’s stand on pre marital se is revealed (Bella say’s it ancient) It is easy to conclude that “Eclipse” is so far the best among the three “Twilight” movies , even if that’s just because the first one was too basic and forgivable and so the second one was naturally better given the weak beginning. But to be fair “Eclipse” is filled with great lines (“lets face it, I’m hotter than you” said Jacob) another is “what about when Jacob said “the clouds I can handle but I cant fight an eclipse”, That’s basically the whole reason its called eclipse So enjoyable is “Eclipse” that those who watch it will definitely be impatient for the two part “Breaking Dawn” movies.

The Many Uses of Gold

Of all the minerals mined from the Earth, none is more useful than gold. Its usefulness is derived from a diversity of special properties. Gold conducts electricity, does not tarnish, is very easy to work, can be drawn into wire, can be hammered into thin sheets, alloys with many other metals, can be melted and cast into highly detailed shapes, has a wonderful color and a brilliant luster. Gold is a memorable metal that occupies a special place in the human mind.

When Spanish explorers first arrived in the “New World” they met the native South Americans. These two cultures had been separated by a vast ocean, they had never touched one another, they spoke different languages and lived entirely different lives. Yet they had one thing in common – they both held gold in highest esteem and used it to make some of their most important objects.

Throughout the history of our planet almost every established culture has used gold to symbolize power, beauty, purity and accomplishment. Today we continue to use gold for our most significant objects: wedding rings, Olympic medals, Oscars, Grammys, money, crucifixes and ecclesiastical art. No other substance of the same rarity holds a more visible and prominent place in our society.

Jewelry: The Primary Use of Gold

The production of ornamental objects was probably the first use of gold over 6000 years ago. Gold is found in the pure state, is very easy to work and was probably the first metal used by humans. Today, most of the gold that is newly mined or recycled is used in the manufacture of jewelry. About 78% of the gold consumed each year is used in the manufacture of jewelry.

Special properties of gold make it perfect for manufacturing jewelry. These include: very high luster; desirable yellow color; tarnish resistance; ability to be drawn into wires, hammered into sheets or cast into shapes. These are all properties of an attractive metal that is easily worked into beautiful objects. Another extremely important factor that demands the use of gold as a jewelry metal is tradition. Important objects are expected to be made from gold.

Financial Gold – Coinage, Bullion, Currency Backing
ecause gold is highly valued and in very limited supply it has long been used as a medium of exchange or money. The first known use of gold in transactions dates back about 6000 years. Early transactions were done using pieces of gold or pieces of silver. The rarity, usefulness and desirability of gold make it a substance of long term value. Gold works well for this purpose because it has a high value, is durable, portable and easily divisible.

Some early printings of paper money were backed by gold held in safe keeping for every unit of money that was placed in circulation. The United States once used a “gold standard” and maintained a stockpile of gold to back every dollar in circulation. Under this gold standard, any person could present paper currency to the government and demand in exchange an equal value of gold. The gold standard was once used by many nations but it eventually became too cumbersome and is no longer used by any nation.

The gold used as a financial backing for currency was most often held in the form of gold bars, also known as “gold bullion”. The use of gold bars kept manufacturing costs to a minimum and allowed convenient handling and storage. Today many governments, individuals and institutions hold investments of gold in the convenient form of bullion.

The first gold coins were minted under the order of King Croesus of Lydia (a region of present-day Turkey) in about 560 BC. Gold coins were commonly used in transactions up through the early 1900’s when paper currency became a more common form of exchange. Gold coins were issued in two types of units. Some were denominated in units of currency, such as dollars, while others were issued in standard weights, such as ounces or grams.

Today gold coins are no longer in wide use for financial transactions. However, gold coins issued in specific weights are popular ways for people to purchase and own small volumes of gold for investment. Gold coins are also issued as “commemorative” items. Many people enjoy these commemorative coins because they have both a collectable value and a precious metal value.

Uses of Gold in Electronics

The most important industrial use of gold is in the manufacture of electronics. Solid state electronic devices use very low voltages and currents which are easily interrupted by corrosion or tarnish at the contact points. Gold is the highly efficient conductor that can carry these tiny currents and remain free of corrosion. Electronic components made with gold are highly reliable. Gold is used in connectors, switch and relay contacts, soldered joints, connecting wires and connection strips.

A small amount of gold is used in almost every sophisticated electronic device. This includes: cell phones, calculators, personal digital assistants, global positioning system units and other small electronic devices. Most large electronic appliances such as television sets also contain gold.

One challenge with the use of gold in very small quantities in very small devices is loss of the metal from society. Nearly one billion cell phones are produced each year and most of them contain about fifty cents worth of gold. Their average lifetime is under two years and very few are currently recycled. Although the amount of gold is small in each device, their enormous numbers translate into a lot of unrecycled gold.

Use of Gold in Computers

Gold is used in many places in the standard desktop or laptop computer. The rapid and accurate transmission of digital information through the computer and from one component to another requires an efficient and reliable conductor. Gold meets these requirements better than any other metal. The importance of high quality and reliable performance justifies the high cost.

Edge connectors used to mount microprocessor and memory chips onto the motherboard and the plug-and-socket connectors used to attach cables all contain gold. The gold in these components is generally electroplated onto other metals and alloyed with small amounts of nickel or cobalt to increase durability.

Use of Gold in Dentistry
How would iron work as a dental filling? Not very well… your dentist would need blacksmithing tools, your smile would be rusty a few days after a filling and you would need to get used to the taste of iron. Even at much higher expense, gold is used in dentistry because of its superior performance and aesthetic appeal. Gold alloys are used for fillings, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances. Gold is used in dentistry because it is chemically inert, nonallergenic and easy for the dentist to work.

Gold is known to have been used in dentistry as early as 700 B.C. Etruscan “dentists” used gold wire to fasten replacement teeth into the mouths of their patients. Gold was probably used to fill cavities in ancient times;, however there is no documentation or archaeological evidence for this use of gold until a little over 1000 years ago.

Gold was much more generously used in dentistry up until the late 1970’s. The sharp run-up of gold prices at that time motivated the development of substitute materials. However, the amount of gold used in dentistry is starting to rise again. Some motivation for this comes from concerns that less inert metals might have an adverse effect on long-term health.

Medical Uses of Gold

Gold is used as a drug to treat a small number of medical conditions. Injections of weak solutions of sodium aurothiomalate or aurothioglucose are sometimes used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Particles of a radioactive gold isotope are implanted in tissues to serve as a radiation source in the treatment of certain cancers.

Small amounts of gold are used to remedy a condition known as Lagophthalmos, which is an inability of a person to close their eyes completely. This condition is treated by implanting small amounts of gold in the upper eyelid. The implanted gold “weights” the eyelid and the force of gravity helps the eyelid close fully.

Radioactive gold is used in diagnosis. It is injected in a colloidal solution that can be tracked as a beta emitter as it passes through the body. Many surgical instruments, electronic equipment and life-support devices are made using small amounts of gold. Gold is nonreactive in the instruments and is highly reliable in the electronic equipment and life-support devices.

Uses of Gold in Aerospace

If you are going to spend billions of dollars on a vehicle that when launched will travel on a voyage where the possibility of lubrication, maintenance and repair is absolutely zero, then building it with extremely dependable materials is essential. This is exactly why gold is used in hundreds of ways in every space vehicle that NASA launches.

Gold is used in circuitry because it is a dependable conductor and connector. In addition, many parts of every space vehicle are fitted with gold-coated polyester film. This film reflects infrared radiation and helps stabilize the temperature of the spacecraft. Without this coating, dark colored parts of the spacecraft would absorb significant amounts of heat

Gold is also used as a lubricant between mechanical parts. In the vacuum of space, organic lubricants would volatilize and they would be broken down by the intense radiation beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Gold has a very low shear strength and thin films of gold between critical moving parts serves as a lubricant – the gold molecules slip past one another under the forces of friction and that provides a lubricant action.

Uses of Gold in Awards and Symbols of Status
What metal is used to make the crown worn by a king? Gold! This metal is selected for use because gold it is THE metal of highest esteem. It would make no sense to make a king’s crown out of steel – even though steel is the strongest metal. Gold is chosen for use in a king’s crown because it is the metal associated with highest esteem and status.

Gold is associated with many positive qualities. Purity is another quality associated with gold. For this reason, gold is the metal of choice for religious objects. Crosses, communion ware and other religious symbols are almost always made with gold for this reason.

Gold is also used as the first place winner’s medal or trophy in almost any type of contest. First place winners at the Olympic Games are given gold medals. The Academy Awards Oscars are gold awards. Music’s Grammy Awards are made of gold. All of these important achievements are honored with awards made of gold.

Uses of Gold in Glassmaking

Gold has many uses in the production of glass. The most basic use in glassmaking is that of a pigment. A small amount of gold suspended in the glass when it is annealed produces a rich ruby color.

Gold is also used when making specialty glass for climate controlled buildings and cases. A small amount of gold dispersed within the glass or coated onto the glass surface will reflect solar radiation outward, helping the buildings stay cool in the summer, and reflect internal heat inward, helping them stay warm in winter.

The visor on the helmet of an astronaut’s space suit is coated with a very thin film of gold. This thin film reflects much of the very intense solar radiation of space, protecting the astronaut’s eyes and skin.

Gold Gilding and Gold Leaf

Gold has the highest malleability of any metal. This enables gold to be beaten into sheets that are only a few millionths of an inch thick. These thin sheets, known as “gold leaf” can be applied over the irregular surfaces of picture frames, molding or furniture.

Gold leaf is also used on the external and internal surfaces of buildings. This provides a durable and corrosion-resistant covering. One of the most eye-catching uses of gold leaf is on the domes of religious buildings and other important structures. The cost of this “roofing material” is very high per square foot; however, the cost of the gold is only a few percent of the total project cost. Most of the cost goes to the labor of highly skilled artisans who apply the gold leaf.

Future Uses of Gold

Gold is too expensive to use by chance. Instead it is used deliberately and only when less expensive substitutes can not be identified. As a result, once a use is found for gold it is rarely abandoned for another metal. This means that the number of uses for gold have been increasing over time.

Most of the ways that gold is used today have been developed only during the last two or three decades. This trend will likely continue. As our society requires more sophisticated and reliable materials our uses for gold will increase. This combination of growing demand, few substitutes and limited supply will cause the value and importance of gold to increase steadily over time. It is truly a metal of the future. w
